Chicago Area Peace Action’s Board members identified the following 2026 Areas of Focus for our work at our final Board Meeting of 2025:    

1. Uphold Human Dignity and Solidarity

• • Protect vulnerable communities
  • Resist dehumanization and othering
  • Oppose unlawful detentions and deportations
  • Oppose normalization of the slide toward authoritarianism
  • Resist the growing power imbalance between the ruling class and the public

• • Uphold the pillars of democracy including due process
  • Defend academic freedom, an independent press, free and protected speech and the right to protest
  • Advocate for participatory democracy at all levels

• • Oppose war, military spending, and capitalist exploitation in all sectors
  • Educate and advocate for nuclear disarmament
  • Promote peace and diplomacy in all regions of the world
  • Oppose predatory military recruitment policies
  • Raise awareness of the connections between militarism and climate change
