Join us on Wednesday, February 4th (6:30 pm) at Lake Street Church in Evanston for a book launch event featuring authors Anna Piela and Rev. Michael Woolf, co-founders of Challenging Islamophobia Together Chicagoland. The authors will discuss their new book, “Confronting Islamophobia in the Church.”
The authors will be joined by moderator Sawsan Abubaker of Advocates 4 Justice, who CAPA recently honored with the 2025 Cleland-Tholin Pursuit of Peace Award.
“The continuing need to portray Islam as a heresy and Muslims as villains [has] led to more Islamophobic initiatives in the Christian world….
“The narrative of Muslims as foreigners has been useful in rationalizing surveillance and criminalization of American Muslims, along with military excursions in Muslim-majority countries.
“Muslims bear the burden of Islamophobia, but it is chiefly Christians who are complicit in and beneficiaries of it. Therefore, we have the responsibility to confront this hate.”
