CAPA UIUC (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) is a diverse, nonpartisan coalition of students and citizens who share a commitment to peace through justice. We also strongly believe that peacebuilding is a path toward justice, and staunchly support restorative justice, conflict mediation, and transitional justice (including Truth and Reconciliation efforts) as ways to heal our society and unite diverse groups of people in an effort to make the world a better, more just place.
While we are a peacebuilding and activist organization, we are like a family and know how to have fun; we organized several social events like movie nights and a Velntine’s Day social event for our members last year! We welcome (and need) people of all ages, ethnicities, political ideologies, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our current campaigns are in support of the Justice for Black Farmers Act and bringing a Department of Peacebuilding (DoP) to the city of Chicago. So, if you are looking to find your voice in the ever-growing movement for social change, find CAPA UIUC!
