An Afternoon with Amy Goodman: Independent Media in a Time of Elections, War, and Rising Authoritarianism

This Labor Day weekend, CAPA will host an event that confronts social and political conditions today — featuring Amy Goodman, trailblazing journalist, founder of Democracy NOW!, and recipient of the Right Livelihood Award.

Amy will reflect on 30 years of Democracy Now! and the role of independent media in covering the grassroots movements that are the driving force for progressive change in the world. 

She will be joined in conversation by moderator Damon Williams, award-winning Chicago activist, film-maker, and co-founder of Respair Media, which creates podcasts and films about communities challenging power and reconfiguring public life. 

After the conversation, Amy and Damon will take questions from the audience. Join us for an afternoon to remember as we gather invaluable insights and build collective resolve at this pivotal time.

 –> By car: Parking options include the lot at 763 W Polk (metered, 2-hour max.) and the Halsted/Taylor Parking Structure at 760 W Taylor ($7 for 1-2 hrs; $9 for more than 2 hrs). Metered parking is also available on streets nearby.
