A Call For a United Emergency Protest

The U.S. has long sought to control other countries by bullying and committing violence against them. As the experience of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and many other countries shows, things always turn out dramatically worse for the peoples of the countries that the U.S. targets for its “regime change” bombings and invasions. Please join an urgent protest to demand an immediate end to U.S. violence in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific.

“While Trump continues his war on Chicago, we cannot ignore his killing of dozens of people in small boats off of the coasts of Venezuela and Colombia and his threats of bigger and broader aggression in Latin America,” said Marcia Bernsten, co-convener of CAPA’s Foreign Policy Working Group. “His claims about doing this to ‘stop drugs’ are pure fantasy. He has produced zero evidence, plus extrajudicial executions are a violation of international and U.S. law, yet he continues to kill, kill, kill with zero effective opposition from Congress.”

Whether the U.S. goal is seizing Venezuela’s oil, installing a puppet government there, diverting attention from the many threats to the living standards of millions in the U.S., or all of those things, we must loudly reject the threat of more U.S.-initiated war.
