“Where Olive Trees Weep” offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. Featuring Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, Jewish therapist Dr. Gabor Maté, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, Israeli journalist Amira Hass, and others.

Followed by a Q+A with discussants Eli Newell and Tarek Khalil:

Eli Newell is a Chicago-based artist, organizer and rabbinic student whose work visits the intersections of directing & writing for live performance, grassroots community organizing, and facilitating embodied Jewish ritual. Eli is a national Field Organizer with IfNotNow, a movement of American Jews working to end U.S. support for Israel’s apartheid system and demand equality, justice and a thriving future for all Palestinians and Israelis.

Tarek Khalil is an attorney and Palestinian Human Rights activist, and board member with the American Muslims for Palestine (AMP-Chicago). Tarek appeared in multiple media outlets such as ABC, CBS, NYT, Arab News, and Aljazeera, among others. With AMP, Tarek lectures on topics such as modern Palestinian history, Middle East politics, and Palestinian rights under international law.
