This year’s Annual Fall Benefit will feature both long-standing and recently emerging groups who protect and care for our communities despite systemic threats, political machinations and historic injustices.
We will highlight the following groups, whose work includes rapid response training, mutual aid/ food distribution pantries, community violence intervention, community-building and human rights for all marginalized populations:
Chicago American Indian Community Collaborative
Institute for Nonviolence Chicago
Marjorie Kovler Center
Neighborgood
ONE Northside
Organized Communities Against Deportations
Protect Rogers Park
Walls Turned Sideways
We will also have a panel discussion with panelists from Chicago and Minneapolis — Demian Kogan of Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) and State Senator Zaynab Mohamed from Minneapolis, moderated by award-winning Chicago journalist Adriana Cardona-Maguidad. The discussion will focus on what we have learned and how we can strengthen our resistance and solidarity across diverse communities.Â
The event will also feature live poetry performances and delicious food catered by Curt’s Cafe of Evanston.
